What the treatment includes
Sydney is home to both roof rats, which favour ceilings and upper levels, and Norway rats, which burrow at ground level and in subfloors. Knowing which you have shapes where I bait and trap. Rats are strong chewers and a genuine fire risk when they reach wiring, so prompt action matters.
Signs of rats
- Heavy scratching and movement in the roof
- Larger droppings around 12 to 18 millimetres long
- Runways and greasy rub marks along walls
- Burrows near foundations or garden sheds
What to expect
I assess entry points and nesting areas, deploy a baiting and trapping plan, and recommend proofing to seal the gaps. Rats can squeeze through openings the size of a twenty cent coin, so thorough proofing is key.
